Minsmere

The RSPB nature reserve at Minsmere has a “hide in the sky” where you can look out over the top of the tree canapé to get a bird’s eye view of the action. In the summer, with the swarms of butterflies and acrobatic birds, it is a superb sight and has been known to impress the most “uninterested” teenager. There is an excellent visitors centre and if you are feeling energetic the mile or so walk along the coastal path to Dunwich with its lighthouse and look out station over the cliffs is fabulous. The children (and adults) seen to enjoy using the binoculars to spot massive container ships heading in and out of the port of Felixstowe as well as the dramatic wildlife. If you are not energetic try to book one of the regular wildlife safaris form Minsmere and ride around in a land rover with an expert guide.
